Slow USB 3 Write Speed on NUC8i3BEH

Hi,

I'm running Ubuntu Server 18.04.5 on my NUC and have a USB 3 hard drive connected to it.

On my laptop this hard-drive reaches >100 MB/s read and write speed. However, on the NUC, the read speed is 115 MB/s (good enough) and the write speed only 3.5 MB/s. That is the case on any of the 5 USB ports (including the USB-C port).

I already updated the BIOS to the latest version (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/de/download/30154/BIOS-Update-BECFL357-).

Anyone has an idea how to speed up the USB3 ports on the NUC?

Best regards,

Erik

Do you have an install of Windows 10 on this BE NUC? If so, what is the timing there?

Hi Scott,

thanks for your answer. No, I don't have Win10 on there. Only a linux server installation.

Best,

Erik

Hello erik09,

Thank you for posting on the Intel* Community.

Unfortunately, Intel does not test and validate this Intel NUC on Linux so we cannot confirm how accurate is the information in Ubuntu or provide you with steps to solve the issue; however we know that a lot of NUC owners are using Linux successfully on many different Linux distros.

Intel suggests you check your Linux distro's website and forums athttps://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2390785 for peer assistance with this issue.
