This system is incompatible with Intel® Arc™ graphics. NUC9i9QNX DSA warning

And of course, the learn more button connects to nothing.

I assume this is because the 12th gen NUC Extreme is out and Intel wants me to buy it. No thanks, I already saw Intel un-extreme my NUC9i9QNX with a BIOS update, not making that mistake again.

Addressing the actual question here. Is Intel actually claiming that the upcoming Arc graphics cards will not work in a PCIe gen 3 X 16 slot?

And just to be clear, this is not a support thread. I do not need anything fixed. I am just reporting a "learn more" button connecting to nothing and asking if Intel is intentionally breaking backwards compatibility.

Hello BHarr8,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities and for raising the flag on this.

We apologize for the inconvenience with the "Learn more" button, and we will be glad to answer your concern.

In order to better assist you, could you please provide a screenshot of the warning message that you are getting from the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hello Steven,

he didn't reply, but I am curious enough to know why my not too old Intel System is not compatible with intel ARC Graphics. So I'm sending you my screenshot. Of course I tried to find any document describing the problem, starting with the infamous "learn more button".

I mentioned in my post that I do not need support, that I was just reporting a problem with their DSA tool not linking to anything on this compatibility warning. Their support always ignores me when I report bugs and asks questions anyway as if they don't own any examples of their own hardware, its really baffling.

I suspect that this "...compatibility warning..." is just a sales tactic because otherwise Intel is intentionally breaking PCIe backwards compatibility which seems like a really stupid move.

Its good seeing others reporting this, maybe someone from support will chime with an to explanation as to why their upcoming Arc GPUs are not compatible with their own hardware.

And again Intel, I do not need anything fixed, I do not need support. I just need Intel to explain why you are claiming that 9th gen Intel NUCs are not compatible with Arc. FYI, if this is a forced incompatibility due to power connectors, that will be resolved with simple adapters.

Bonjour, dans le même cas également.

Et lorsque l'on clique sur Learn more. Aucune information "lisible".

Hi BHarr8,

Thanks for reporting, we’re preparing our documentation for upcoming Arc* graphics cards. Our customer support pages may change as we approach product availability. We’ll have this link fixed.

Hi BHarr8,

I did some more digging and found out that this messaging should not be shown on the IDSA scan page anymore; please refresh your browser or click on the "Refresh Results" on the IDSA left-hand menu in order for that message to be removed.

Hi  Ronny G, Hi Steven G,

a really smart move to remove the message, let's call that a "workaround" :-). BTW, by now the message is still there after refreshing.

But It would be really nice of Intel to point me to this document describing the minimum requitements of Intel Arc graphics.

I can only imagine that maybe there will be no Arc that will fit into the NUC9i9QNX, as I had already problems to fit my EVGA 3060 XC Gaming in it, specially where the NUC11 and 12 offering more space for full length graphic cards.

Best regards,

Gunnar.

Hi @guhenne

You are correct, I tested a few systems and in a couple of them, the notification didn't go away until I removed/reinstall IDSA. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Arc* has not officially launched yet (I am not a graphics support person) but my understanding is that it will be released very soon and that is the reason why the website  and links to other products are work-in-progress at this moment.

For NUC compatibility and also for Intel products in general, please visit: Intel® Product Compatibility Tool

I took a look today and DSA no longer reports this incompatibility on my NUC9i9QNX.
