Hi,
I'm trying to get my NUC 11 ( NUC11TNHiv7 ) working with the Dell UltraSharp 32 8K Monitor - UP3218K with Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.
The Intel 3rd party site reports this is a compatible setup. I can get the 4K option in Ubuntu but not the 8K (7680 x 4320) resolution.
I'm using the standard Ubuntu install for 20.04 LTS that you report has the Intel Xe Drivers built- in.
I am using two 1.4 compliant Display Port to USB-C cables as required by the Dell display.
Can someone give me some guidance. I think its coming down to the display driver for Ubuntu but not sure.
Thanks

toddvernon, Thank you for posting in the Intel® Communities Support.
In order for us to provide the most accurate assistance on this matter, we just wanted to confirm a few details about your system:
Is this a new Intel® NUC?
When did you purchase it? (For Warranty Purposes)
Were you able to use the 8K (7680 x 4320) resolution on this specific Intel® NUC before?
If so, when did the issue start?
Did you make any recent hardware/software changes that might cause this issue?
Which Windows* version are you using?
Does the problem happen at home or in the work environment?
Please attach the SSU report so we can verify further details about the components in your platform, check all the options in the report including the one that says "3rd party software logs":
Any questions, please let me know.
Regards,
Albert R.

I did eventually get this configuration to work, kinda. I could get 8K but the monitor would lose sync quite often causing the screen to go blank for a second, then show again. As mentioned on other forums there was some tearing of display between the two 4K panels when dragging windows across the boundary. That was supposed to be fixed in the Ubuntu kernal but I don't think it really was (perhaps just made a little better.) In the end this configuration, using two DVI inputs will likely never be a standard so I just sent the monitor back which was kind of a bummer as that is why the Tigerlake NUC in the first place. Anyone in the future wanting to use a NUC with Xe graphics to drive a Dell 8K screen, I suggest not doing it. I *might* work better with the Intel Windows Xe drivers but that was not a configuration I was looking for.
