Using header pins to power on/off NUC8i7HVK. Which pins and jumper leads?

Hi guys, I'm looking to hook up an external switch to start and shut down an NUC8i7HVK. Am I right in thinking I can use pin 14 and a GND from the 20 pin IO header and hook them to a switch to do the job? Or would I have to splice into the switch of the power button on the NUC? Also any links to single jumpers for the tiny 20 pin IO connection? Many thanks in advance!

Andy

Correct; you want to use a normally-open momentary-contact button and you want to connect it across Pin 14 (PWR_BTN_N) and Pin 2, 7, 15 or 20 (GND).

GORITE makes a cable assembly for externally exposing the USB ports as well as the Common I/O pins in this header. It is avalable through MicroSATACables.

Note that these are identified as being for the Skull Canyon NUC, but the Hades Canyon NUCs has the exact same header.

Note also that there is a similar cable assembly for the USB 3.0 header as well.

Hope this helps,

Also, if you want to mount the USB 3.0, there's this: also from the same site: https://www.microsatacables.com/intel-nuc-nuc6i7kyk-skull-canyon-internal-usb-3-0-header-cable-to-dual-usb-3-0-panel-mount
