What PC do you recommend for connecting four D435 cameras?

Jump to solution

What PC do you recommend for connecting four D435 cameras? Does it need to have 4 individual USB 3 host controllers? I'm assuming, yes?

The cameras use USB type - C.

Other criteria would be a small slim PC. What do you recommend?

thanks

The ideal would be to have separate USB controllers, yes.

A starting point for your research into PCs could be the slim Intel NUC 7 mini PC with four USB 3.0 ports. It was released a year ago so is still quite up to date.

A new NUC 8 model is coming this Spring that has 7 USB 3.0 ports, according to the site below.

Thanks for the suggestion. Do you know if NUC 7 or NUC 8 have dedicated channel controllers for at least 4 of those USB3? I couldnt find that information anywhere. Thanks.

I believe the i7bnkq NUC 7 model is covered by this data sheet document:

https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/boardsandkits/NUC7i5BN_NUC7i7BN_TechProdSp... https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/boardsandkits/NUC7i5BN_NUC7i7BN_TechProdSp...

I do not have a similar sheet for the forthcoming NUC 8 model. I assume both NUC 7 and NUC 8 have dedicated USB controllers for each USB 3.0 port, but I'll link our resident NUC expert on the forums, N. Scott Pearson - N.Scott.Pearson - into this conversation to get his input, just to be sure.
