Windows11 22H2 reboot is slow or fails

I have a new Intel NUC 12th generation (NUC12WSBv7 with Windows 11 Pro 22H2 (10.0.22621)). Suddenly it has problem with reboot. When selecting reboot in Windows it says it's shuting down but then the screen goes black for 2 - 3 minuter before the BIOS welcome screen is shown. Then nothing more happens, Windows isn't loaded (or sometimes it starts loading after several minutes). I have to press the power button for more than five seconds to turn off the computer. When powering it on again it takes a few seconds before it shows the BIOS welcome screen and Windows is loaded.

If I instead select shutdown in Windows it is shutdown within approx 10 seconds and the computer is turned off. Turning it on again it loads the Windows so fast that I nearly never have time to notice the BIOS welcome screen.

BIOS version is WSADLV57.0085.2022.0718.1715.

Initially I installed Windows in a minimal setup with only a monitor (HDMI), a USB keyboard and USB mouse. After upgrading and installing some features it worked fine, quick reboot. Then I moved it to a new place with two HDMI monitors, Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, Logitech Brio webcam and Jabra headset.

I also had major problems with Windows Update. It failed with installing a lot of Intel drivers (some twice, some different versions of the same driver). The error code suggested that drivers was already installed. After a lot of tries I finally got Windows Update to stop trying to install those drivers. Intel Driver & Support Assistant doesn't list any required updates.

I'm stunned. I don't know what "Windows reboot" does to the BIOS but it seems to break the reboot cycle of the computer. It's like the power is never turned off on the computer.

Hello,

After trying out a number of suggestions found on Internet I got one solution that worked. I used Advanced startup in Windows 11 and when the computer restarted I choosed Troubleshoot -> Advanced options -> Startup Repair. I don't know what it did but after that Windows restarts without problems. Hopefully it will continue to do that.

Thanks for your response,

Mats-Ove

I've just installed 2023-01 kumulativ update for Windows 11 version 22H2 without any problems during the restart so I guess it's resolved.
