trying to load win7 on this machine, but as win7 doesn't support usb3 the keyboard and mouse stop working immediately. I thought there was a switch in the latest bios do do that, but I cannot locate one. Any suggestions?

The Intel® NUC Kit NUC5CPYH does not have the option to configure USB 3.0 ports to work as USB 2.0.
There is a utility on our website which will allow you to include USB 3.0 drivers on your Windows 7* installation installation image.
