compatibility problem to upgrade new windows 11 version

Hello

I bought a NUC 11 Pro NUC11TNKi5 two months ago and installed windows 11 pro  French, release n° 21H2, without any issue.

Small windows 11 upgrades are installed but the new major release 22H2 cannot be installed.

Though my version of NUC should be compatible as far as I saw.

The compatibility check with WindowsPCHealthCheckSetup.msi doesn't give any positive or negative result.

It just shows 2  boxes  : the first one titled " show results" but which  is disactivated. The second one " device specifications " works ( titles are tranlations from the french version. So the true english names might be slighthy different).

Can you give me some hints to progress without making an installation of windows 11 for non compatible devices.

Thanks in adavance

Best regards.

To check if your computer is compatible with Windows 11 22H2, you’ll have to use Windows Registry as follows:

  1. Press Windows key + R to bring up a Run dialog.
  2. Type regedit and press Enter.
  3. In the Registry Editor window, head to Computer > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows NT > CurrentVersion > AppCompatFlags > TargetVersionUpgradeExperienceIndicators > NI22H2.
  4. In the right pane, locate and open the RedReason key.
  5. Check the value. If the displayed value is NONE, your device can run Windows 11 22H2. For any other value, you can’t update to the 22H2 version.

Hello Alan

Thanks for your fast anwser.

I don't have any appCompatFlags line under the Current Version line.  So I assume the  compatibility procedure failed before reaching that step.

When you state: 'but the new major release 22H2 cannot be installed;' do you mean that when you select 'Windows Update' it's not being offered?  Or are you trying some other method of installing it?

If the registry is showing 'NONE' as per my previous post and you want to install the 22H2 update, then follow the instructions here:

Get the Windows 11 2022 Update now with the updated Installation Assistant - Neowin

using the Windows 11 Installation Assistant.  This is how I installed it having determined that my Intel NUC11PHKi7 (NUC 11 Enthusiast) was definitely compatible and after 3-weeks or so I've experienced no issues.

Windows did not yet proposed the upgrade for this NUC whereas I got it already for 2 other machines. So, I tried to install it using the regular windows installation assistant that failed.

The tutorial you mention  seems to tell there are blocks for some configurations; which is may be the case for my NUC. So , It seems I need to be patient.

Thanks for your help

Hello AlRed,

Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities. I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues installing the latest Windows 11 build available.

In order to better understand your issue, please provide me with the following information:

What do you mean by saying "So, I tried to install it using the regular windows installation assistant that failed."? Does it mean that you tried installing the update and it was not installed? or does it mean that there is no option to update the operating system?

Create a report using the Intel System Support Utility (Intel SSU)

• Download the Intel SSU (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/18377/25293/intel-system-support-utility-for-windows.html)

• Open the application and click on "Scan" to see the system and device information. By default, Intel SSU will take you to the "Summary View."

• Click on the menu where it says: "Summary" to change it to "Detailed View."

• To save your scan: click on "Next"; then "Save."
