Hi there,
we've been battling on for about the last 2+years with all of our NUC's failing to connect/wake up the screens on their HDMI ports.
We have about 200/250 units worldwide (US/EU/UK/EMEA), all the same model, all have the same problem no matter what display they have plugged in seemingly.
the base issue is that the screen on the HDMI port fails to wake up. Sometimes pulling the HDMI cable out and putting it back in works, sometimes it needs to have the monitor power cycled as well. Sometimes need to swap screens (dual screen setup) with the other screen that is connected via USB-C to DP cable, to seemingly reset the device ID on the device attached to the HDMI port.
initially we thought this was the batch of HDMI to DP adapters we got. so i have a box of about 80 HDMI2DP adapters at about £20 a piece that are just ... going to get thrown in the bin next time i have a clear out. Most are not even unbagged.
we're now buying startech USB-C to dual hdmi or dual DP adapters at an additional expense per seat that we feel we can't risk the screens not working. You know, people like the CEO, the PA's etc.
Bios is up-to-date
HDMI bios is up-to-date
windows is up-to-date (both win10ent and win11)
intel driver support assistant is up-to-date
given that we've gone through pandemic, we were able to mange this as everyone was pretty much working from home, this is becoming a problem as people are coming back to the office on mass 2-3 days a week.
we have predominantly HP Z24i G2, and HP Z24n G3 monitors, with a smattering of others as and where people have needed extra screens and just bought something.
the monitors work fine with the Lenonvo workstations we have, no problem, and anything else we've been able to plug in.
We're at our wits end really, and this problem is a growning issue for us as more and more people are in the office.

Hello Darksun9210,
Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities.
Regarding the issue. My suggestion is to try disabling Fast Boor in Windows 10. If you would like to have more information about the problem, visit this website (keep in mind that it is a third party website, if you still need more information, you should contact Microsoft support):
https://www.windowscentral.com/how-disable-windows-10-fast-startup
You can also try changing the BIOS setting as follows:
- Access the BIOS for the Intel® NUC (F2)
- Press F9 to restore default settings.
- Click on Advanced
- Click on Power
- Click on Secondary power settings
- Uncheck PCIe ASPM Support
- Select Sleep Type Support, Click Modern Standby
- Press F10 to save the settings
Best regards,
