"...the jack on my sound system is to small"? What is the model of your system. I've Altec Lansing ATP3 3-Piece Speaker System with 3.5 mm standard jack. Could be that you mean that the cable is to short and you need extension adapter? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079L2RT62?aaxitk=lYMt4f7l4zU3Oy4DNQU.FQ&pd_rd_i=B079L2RT62&pf_rd_p=591760d1-6468-480f-9b10-0ee9c85706fd&hsa_cr_id=3972207780401&sb-ci-n=productDescription&sb-ci-v=UGREEN%203.5mm%20Male%20to%20Female%20Extension%20Stereo%20Audio%20Extension%20Cable%20Adapter%20Gold%20Plated%20Compatible%20for%20iPhone%2C%20iPad%2C%20Smartp...
Or, you are looking for 2.5 mm Female to 3.5 mm Male adapter https://www.amazon.com/Plated-Female-Headphone-Adapter-Samsung/dp/B079H41RXG/ref=sr_1_11?keywords=2.5+mm+audio+female+to+3.5+mm+male&qid=1578556288&sr=8-11

It not the length of the cable that is the problem. The jack on the sound system is I think 3.5 but it does not make a good connection to my Intel NUC computer.

Regarding my question on the sound jack. It has been solved. I just was not using enough pressure. My Intel NUC is brand new and no doubt the female connection had not been used and I was not game to use a bit more pressure. A friendly geek came and went that little bit harder and all was well. Thank you to those who replied to my problem
