I'm about to buy a NUC7PJYH2, but I can't find if it's possible to use it completely silently.
It doesn't matter if the cpu loses from its power. I saw in a video a Cooling preset called "Quiet". What does this do? Does it turn off the fan completely, or does it only turn on more rarely? Or, is it possible to underclock the CPU to never reach the fan threshold? Maybe by combination of these 2 options? Thank you!

- I'll will not advice to switch the cooling blower OFF. NUC will not work fanless.
- If you want have NUC without fan, you may install the board in AKASA fanless case: http://www.akasa.com.tw/search.php?seed=A-NUC42-M1B , https://www.amazon.com/Akasa-Fanless-Pentium-Processors-NUC42-M1B/dp/B07G9Y3YG3/ref=sr_1_6?crid=2AFTXWGD92RYQ&keywords=akasa+fanless+case&qid=1566331199&s=gateway&sprefix=Akasa+fanless%2Caps%2C263&sr=8-6
- Some review about this case https://nucblog.net/2018/11/akasa-newton-jc-fanless-case-for-gemini-lake-nucs/

- let me explain a bit more my intention. I'd like to have the fan to be turned off when: not in use but powered on, playing music, playing movie. In all other cases like browsing, running CPU intensive programs it's OK to have it running. So I understand getting rid of the fan is not a good idea. I'd like to have this device to use as media center, running 24/7, and during the nights or music listening I don't see any reason to cool the CPU. I'd like to find someone who uses this box for similar purpose and can confirm if it's possible to configure like this or not,
- Yes, this I checked already, but it increases the size much, as well as the price. These cases are great for i5/i7, but I need this device for low end operations, therefore I'm considering the Celeron/Pentium versions, to have the device small, quite, not producing to much heat, cheap.
If you have this device (or the Celeron variant), could you please check if such a cooling configuration is achievable? Thank you!

Hello 3000022949021.5663052337124607E12,
Thank you for posting on this Intel Community.
To modify the cooling and fan control options In BIOS, we recommend using different Fan Control Modes such as Quiet, Balanced, or Cool.
For more information on fan control settings, we recommend checking the Cooling and Fan Controls.
