Hi everyone,
I'm planning to install an Intel Optane Memory - M.2 (2280 / PCIe NVMe) - M10 Series 16GB - MEMPEK1J016GAL.
My desktop PC has the following specifications:
- RAM: 16GB DDR4, 3200MHz
- Processor: Intel Core I3 10100F 3.60GHz (4.30GHz Turbo), 10th Generation, 4 Cores 8 Threads, LGA 1200, no Video
- Motherboard: MSI B560M-A PRO, Chipset B560, Intel LGA 1200, M-ATX, DDR4
I will install a Kingston NV2 SSD, 1TB, M.2 NVMe, 2280, Read 3500MBs and Write 2100MBs, SNV2S/1000G in the M.2 slot of this motherboard.
My question is:
Is it compatible to install an Intel Optane Memory using an SSD M2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 adapter in my available PCIe x1 4.0 slot on the motherboard? If it is compatible, will I gain performance and faster loading times by installing the Optane together with the NV2 SSD mentioned above?
Thank you in advance for your help!
Additional information:
- The adapter I'm considering is the M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 x1 Adapter: [https://www.amazon.com/ELUTENG-Adapter-Expansion-Aluminum-Heatsink/dp/B0CN998KS9/ref=sr_1_3?crid=11URWOG8UI8F5&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.aIBBWdz7PpDFHK04RmVAH3GYuUKTpQNrCLlZtFEZHOAP0uFafEwmRPDBDI6fY5L8hz8R0FYWDyGOK8aH2yCuc4PXqo2FR-RwgR2Z7hkESkqTC--T9GSCRZ8AGlvd7kwqJDcX4bvTsl131aATXA610XbzWxhTVbZphOUR0gDQjcv6vKIA6KqDUb2M6BSTlTT7Ps2RDTiCMdQBA9UUEkdsV5pInLqB3S...].
- I'm running Windows 10 64-bit, will it be possible to upgrade to Windows 11 and use Optane?

The Intel Optane Memory Series M will not support acceleration of the NVMe SSD. Please refer to Section 1.2 and 1.4 in the Intel Optane Memory M Series Installation Guide.
