I don't know if the problem in your laptop is caused by Management Engine Interface Driver, but you may try to update/reinstall it.

Download and install Intel Management Engine Components Installer

Important: The Intel Chipset Device Software must be installed before installing the Intel Management Engine Interface Driver.
