Hi,

Thank you for posting in the Intel® communities.

I understand that you would like to add the Intel® Optane™ Memory in your system and would like to know how it will affect your Samsung* drive.

The Intel® Optane™ Memory should be connected to a M.2 slot, however it'd be easier to provide you a better answer if you can provide additional information about your system. Please download the Intel® System Support Utility from the following site and run the full report: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows- https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows-

This tool will collect information about your system in a file, including the motherboard model. Please attach that file in your next response. This way, I can check if the motherboard is compatible with Intel® Optane™ Memory.

I'll be waiting for your response.

Have a nice day.

Regards,

Hi,

Thank you for the information.

I checked your motherboard's specifications in the following site: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B360M-AORUS-GAMING-3-rev-10# sp B360M AORUS GAMING 3 (rev. 1.0) | Motherboard - GIGABYTE Global . According to that site, your motherboard is Intel® Optane™ Memory Ready, so you should not have issues setting up the module.

Regarding to your original question, based on the information in the site above and the Intel® Optane™ Memory interface requirements, you can use both of the M.2 slots as both of them support PCIe x2.

However there is an additional note that states the following:

* Refer to "1-7 Internal Connectors," for the installation notices for the M.2 and SATA connectors.

I checked the motherboard's manual and apparently the M2P_16G M.2 slot shares bandwidth with the SATA 3_1 connector, so I recommend you to not connect any drive in this SATA port to not affect the drive in the M2P_16G M.2 slot.

I recommend you to check the motherboard's manual in the following site as it contains more detailed information as well as a guide to setup the Intel® Optane™ Memory: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B360M-AORUS-GAMING-3-rev-10# support-manual B360M AORUS GAMING 3 (rev. 1.0) | Motherboard - GIGABYTE Global

I hope you find this information useful.

Have a nice day.

Regards,
