Hi, last week I applied the Optane firmware upgrade that your driver software recommended.
Since then, various things started going wrong.
The worst effect is that now numerous processes run at full speed (5.5% CPU) on my Intel 7820X. Standard applications such as (right now):
- Windows Explorer
- RunTime Broker
- TakeCommand
- SnagIt Editor
- Affinity Photo
- MS Word
- IrfanView
- WhatsApp
- Telegram Desktop
And I CANNOT QUIT the applications.
I can close the window, but the application keeps running at the same very high power usage.
I cannot force-terminate or kill them either. I have to reboot to get rid of them.
Not affected: EverNote, Brave, other drivers and system utilities...
My system uses 100 W more power than usual (320 to 370W) and hence the water cooling and the ventillators run at high speed. Normally, the system is whisper quiet. It also heats the room, which is already hot...
This is exasperating!
I don't understand what could possibly have happened.
The drive seems to be intact.
I ran the SFC utility.
There seems nothing wrong.
And yes, this started exactly after the firmware upgrade!
I need a solution urgently!
