SSD toolbox BSOD when open with Intel 600p Drive

Hi. I have an Asus Q270M-QSM motherboard with an i7 7700 CPU, an Intel 600p NVMe drive and two SATA RAID 1 drives being managed by RST.

Each time I open up intel SSD Toolbox I see the graphic, it starts making a pie chart like it is suppose to and then I will get Different BSOD error messages.

if I open up Intel RST I do not get any issues. i first started noticing something going on with this when I was running the Intel SSU utility to gather information and it would BSOD whenever it went to collect information for storage. If I left it unchecked it would not BSOD. As I have narrowed it down to when I open SSD Toolbox I don't know if it is a problem with my NMVe or is this a known issue with version 3.4.9?

Thanks for posting. We understand that you're experiencing blue screen crashes when opening Intel® SSD Toolbox.

We haven't received reports of this being an issue with the latest release of Intel® SSD Toolbox (version 3.4.9 as of today). Was it working properly before?

In order to better assist you, we would like to confirm if the crashes would happen on these conditions:

- Uninstall Intel® SSD Toolbox and install it again.

- If you're using the Intel® SSD 600p as secondary drive, please try removing it from the system and open https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27330/Intel-Solid-State-Drive-Toolbox Intel® SSD Toolbox.

 

- If this is your boot drive, please test it on another system if possible.

 

- Verify the firmware for your Intel® SSD 600p is up to date using https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26491/Intel-SSD-Firmware-Update-Tool Intel® SSD Firmware Update. This tool boots outside of your operating system, so the blue screen crashes will not follow it.

Additionally, please share with us the IntelSSDTDK and IntelSSDToolbox logs located at C:\Intel\Logs.

To enable file attachments, you will need to switch to the advanced editor mode while replying.

I changed the BIOS to disable RAID and set to AHCI, booted on the .ISO to flash the 600p drive and it says it cannot find it. I also tried it with BIOS set to RAID and same thing. So I have no way to flash the firmware on the 600p drive. Do you think my drive is bad?

We recommend you to use the https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26491/Intel-SSD-Firmware-Update-Tool Intel® SSD Firmware Update Tool in order to update the firmware because you can not update it via Toolbox when the SSDs are in a RAID array. Please follow the next steps:

 

 

1- Go to: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26491/Intel-SSD-Firmware-Update-Tool

 

2- Download the issdfut_2.2.3.iso

 

3- Go to https://rufus.akeo.ie/ and download Rufus.

 

4- Connect an empty USB flash drive to the PC.

 

5- Open Rufus and change only the options "Device" and select your USB. Then go to ISO image, click on search and select the issdfut_2.2.3.iso you previously downloaded.

 

6- Go to your BIOS -> Boot -> Boot priority -> select the "USB" as primary.

 

7- Re-boot your PC. It should enter the firmware update tool for your SSD.

 

8- Update the firmware and then boot windows.

 

9- If it does not boot to the "USB" or it gives you an error, please go to BIOS and change the boot mode to "legacy only". Then try again.

 

 

If it does not work, please let us know the error you get or let us know if you have an NVidia* video card installed in the system.

as I indicated earlier, I can boot up on the ISO, but the firmware updater tool does not see the 600p drive. I do have an NVidia video card installed.

We recommend you to follow the following /thread/120757 workaround since you have an NVidia* video card on your system.

 

 

Please let us know the outcome of your situation.
