isdct works with linux-image-3.16.0-5-amd64 for example but not with our kernel. Should I activate options in the kernel ?

Hello nico@ad,

Thanks for posting. We understand that Intel® SSD Data Center Tool (ISDCT) is not seeing your drive on Debian 8*.

Please notice that ISDCT is not supported on Linux Debian*. The supported Linux* variants are Ubuntu*, CentOS*, Red Hat* Enterprise and SLES. You can check the full tool requirements at the user manual:

- https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000020016/memory-and-storage.html User and Install Guides for Intel® SSD Data Center Tool

However, you mentioned it is working with Debian* package "linux-image-3.16.0-5-amd64". Are you using a custom kernel?

Best regards,

Yes we use a custom kernel. Should I activate options in the kernel ?

Concerning the Linux variants, Ubuntu is based on Debian, isdct works well with the package linux-image-3.16.0-5-amd64 on Debian.

Thanks, Best regards.

Hello nico@ad,

Thanks for your reply.

We can't guarantee the tool will work with custom kernels or unsupported operating systems. As a general recommendation, please check with Debian* support/forums if it s possible to enable sg kernel module (SCSI Generic Driver) for testing. This might allow ISDCT to detect the drive.

Please let us know if there's anything else we can do for you.

Best regards,

Hello,

Problem solved here, module sg is the good answer (CONFIG_CHR_DEV_SG=m). isdct works like a charm.

Best Regards.
