Activating license for Quartus 2 13.0sp1 on Ubuntu VM

Hi, I have an old Altera DE2 board with a Cyclone 2 FPGA, and I'm trying to program it from an Ubuntu 20.04 virtual environment. So far I've been able to download and install the last version of Quartus 2 that supports Cyclone 2, and compile a basic NAND gate. But the compilation fails to generate an output file, and gives me this failure message:

"Warning (292011): Can't generate programming files because you are currently using the Quartus II software in Evaluation Mode"

So I obtained a license for the software from here:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/programmable/f/download/licensing/lic-q2web.html

I then attempted to install the license, but got the result shown in the attached screenshot. The licensing software doesn't know what to do with the file I give it.

Any suggestions on what I can try from here? Thank you.

Welcome to Intel forum. Could you help to reconfirm the license setup again. You can refer to link below for more detailed instructions for Setting up a license (page 24 of 59):
