Are the DSP Builder Standard Blocksets going away/being phased out?

IntelPSG includes this statement in the DSP Builder section now that can be interepreted as only advanced blockset will be available in the future:

 

DSP Builder for Intel FPGAs adds additional library blocks alongside existing Simulink libraries with DSP Builder for Intel FPGAs (Advanced Blockset) and DSP Builder for Intel FPGAs (Standard Blockset). Our recommendation is to use DSP Builder for Intel FPGAs (Advanced Blockset) for new designs.

Hi,

 

As I understand it, you have some inquiries related to the DSP Builder Standard blocksets. Yes, your understanding is correct, the Standard Blockset is of legacy support now and all the new development will only be in Advanced Blockset. Sorry for the inconvenience. Thus, it is recommended for you to use​ Advanced Blockset for your development.

Hi Chee Pin, The concern is that my client has designed in the standard blocksets on a relatively new design, and they don’t want to have to redesign everything for the advanced blocksets. Hi Chee Pin, A couple of questions on this Will the engineer still be able to use legacy tools for existing designs once support for DSP Builder Standard blocksets goes away? If yes, will they be able to use those legacy tools on new designs in legacy hardware (i.e. are all the devices changing to drop support in the future or is it only a library and tool change?) Hi Danny,

 

For your information, the support will be dependent on the software tools instead of hardware. As long as our customer is using the version which has the device and DSP builder standard blockset supported, then there should be no issue .

Hi Chee Pin:

 

How do we do pin assignment and Hardware-in-the-Loop simulation with the Advanced Blockset? In the past the designer would use the Standard Blockset, and use the 'Pinout Assignments' block to assign signals to pins, and the HIL block to perform HIL simulations. Or if the Advanced Blockset is being used, then this design would be encapsulated by a Standard Blockset part for HIL sims, pin assignments, and possibly other things. How is this best done now?

Hi Dave,

 

Regarding your inquiry on hardware-in-the-loop, for your information, th​e hardware-in-the-loop is not supported in Advanced Blockset. For Advanced Blockset, there a new feature called system-in-the-loop. You may refer to the user guide for further information on this.
