Can I use USB blaster cable to program .jbc file using JAM Staple code Player?

I have successfully tested .jbc file on my system using QuartusII Programmer and USB Blaster cable. But I need to actually use the Jam Byte code player for embedded applications. Before I modify the JAM Byte code player, I wanted to verify that I can successfully program my .jbc file on target hardware. The JAM Byte code player seems to be targeting the parallel port and not USB Blaster cable. I do not have the parallel port cable nor do I have the host PC supporting parallel port. So I was curious if could use the USB Blaster cable instead to test this.

Also the JAM Byte code player on the Alter website seems fairly old (2002). Does it still work for today's devices? It should but wanted to make sure.

Prompt response on this will be great.
