Having upgraded Quartus from Quartus II 8.1 to Quartus Prime 20.1.1 standard edition the checksums are different when the loaded the onto the FPGA.
Can you confirm that this is supposed to have happened and that it will still work as before?

Since Quartus 8.1 has been awhile, could you help to further explain what is different that you have observe in 8.1 vs 20.1.1 Std? It is hard to know without looking at the design code/example.

Thanks for your reply, The previous checksum was 02CE5946 and after updating Quartus the new one is 02CE5D42.

Could you help to share the design/test case/screenshot that showed this error?

You may checkout the KDB below regarding to checksum.

The test procedure is as follows:

In the Quartus programmer GUI select ‘Auto Detect’ If programming the 100 pin or 80 pin devices, two items should appear, a 10K20 FPGA and an EPC2 Configuration Prom. If programming the 28 Pin DIL for the ETI, only one device will appear, a 7064S CPLD.

Select ‘Add File’. Browse to the file download directory and select the firmware for the appropriate device. This will be added to the list under the programmable devices

In the case of programming the larger PGA devices and the 3 items on the list, select the 10K20 device and ‘delete’. In the case of the ETI device EPM7064 with two items in the list, select the 7064 device and ‘delete’. Skip step 7 in this instance

Select the programmable device and select the ‘down’ to move the device below the programming file.

Select the programming file entry and click the program and verify boxes.

Select ‘Start’. (cont’d) The programmer status window and the progress bar will show what is happening and at the end you should see ‘successfully performed the operation’.

Thanks for the explanation.

Back to your first question as to why the checksums are different from Quartus II 8.1 to Quartus Prime 20.1.1 standard edition.

I checked and the checksum can be varied with different Quartus version therefore this is an expected behavior in which different checksum is shown in the different Quartus version. So yes, it will still works as before.
