DE0 driver blocks for VGA & PS/2 keyboard

I am using the DE0 board for my advanced logic course. I would like my students to be able to use the VGA output and PS/2 keyboard input as interfaces to the custom logic they're developing for the course. My question is: can anyone point me in the direction of library code & documentation (Altera''s or otherwise) that will work on the board? I could have the student's write their own interfaces, but that's way beyond the scope of the course. I know there is some code provided on the DE0 CD, but there is no API documentation - at least that I could find.
