"There are no software examples available for the selected CPU"

There is no template that I can choose. ex. blank project, hello world, etc.

The nios eds install include in the quartus 14.1 file so I can't delete only nios and try to reinstall back.

but I uninstall the whole program once and reinstall

The result is same

I have the same problem and have no idea how to solve this. Can someone please advise?

I'm also using 14.1, and the HW includes the NIOS II Gen2 CPU as advised by QSys to migrate to.

I managed to solve this. There was a faulty IP component included that wasnt even used. When I removed the files the "Operation System" field in the BSP editor could be successfully selected as Altera HAL.

I had the same problem and the reason was a "bad" path: the folder name was using brackets "./project(v1.0)". brackets are ok for quartus but not for Eclipse.
