EPCQ64A DIE MARKING

We have received a board from an unknown supplier with an EPCQ64A DEVICE WITH WINBOND MARKING ON ITS DIE.
DIE LOT 2032,AND ANOTHER WITH DIE LOT 2124.
Can it be a counterfeit ? Or perhaps Altera /Intel did manufacture those devices at Winbond Fabs, and this can explain the marking?

Hello,

Can you take a snapshot of the top marking and send to us?

We can verify the unit is genuine or not by the datecode number.

regards,

Farabi

Altera/Intel AS flash devices have always been OEM products. Intel should be able to check if EPCS64A device analyzed in above posted report is genuine product.

I can confirm that Winbond flash is fully operational as EPCSxx replacement.

Hello Farabi,
I added here the top marking from the report we received.
In addition, I wanted to add a reply from an Intel employee from 07.04.2022 about simila question. Her name is Nur Aiman - saying Winbond are printed on EPCQA devices. But I didn't find here how to add it.
Please check and advise.

Hi,

I can't see any attachment regarding the top marking. Can you please provide the top marking.

Altera has its authorized distributor to sale Intel devices. If you got the devices from formal distributors, you shouldn’t worry on the device authenticity/validity as the devices must be valid units. Otherwise, we do not ensure the device quality and do not provide the further service. You may find the authorized distributor list from the link below:

Hello,

Sorry for the delay and thank you for the update of the information. I'm still in the midst of the discussion regarding this with the internal teams. Unfortunately, it takes longer than usual heard. I will plan on letting you know as soon as I learn more information. Do also expect some delay on my respond as our region will be having a public holiday. Really appreciate your patience.

Warm Regards,

Hello,

Sorry for the delay, for your information Winbond printed on EPCQ device is valid. There should be no concern of the authenticity if you purchase from our authorized distributor. Otherwise, we do not ensure the device quality and do not provide the further service.

Hope that helps and do let me know if I can assist you any further.

Best regards,

Nazrul Naim
