Entity assignment

Newbie. I would like to assign an entity to a specific LAB. When I tried this using Chip Planner, by dragging the entity to a new LAB, the new assignment shows up in my schematic with the LAB label attached to the entity. But post-compile, the new assignment is not recognized in the Chip Planner, but instead remains in its original (previous) location. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your help,

Also, I get these errors from Quartus after attempting to make an assignment:

Warning: Ignoring location assignments for the following nodes because they are being preserved at their previous Fitter locations.

Warning: Node inst40 will be placed according to its previous placement at LCCOMB_X49_Y13_N2 and ignore the location assignment to LCCOMB_X49_Y22_N2

Warning: Node inst17 will be placed according to its previous placement at LCFF_X49_Y13_N3 and ignore the location assignment to LCFF_X49_Y22_N3

Any ideas?

Thanks,
