I recently downloaded the software Quartus Prime lite edition ( Version 18.1). Unfortunately I encounter a problem when I want to realize a RTL simulation. At first, the software displayed an error saying the path is not specified for ModelSim ; then I looked on the internet in order to settle the problem. I specified the following path on Quartus : C:\intelFPGA_lite\18.1\modelsim_ase\win32aloem
There is now a new error message displayed by the software :
'Can't launch ModelSim Simulation software -- make sure the software is properly installed and the environment variable LM_LICENSE_FILE or MGLS_LICENSE_FILE points to the correct license file.'
I didn't find a way to solve this problem for the moment... Would you know a solution ? I tried to install Quartus lite again but the same error is displayed.
I also looked in the Intel® FPGA Software Installation and Licensing guide and I saw at the page 38 in the section 4.6.6. that I should set the MGLS_LICENSE_FILE environment variable to the location and file name of the ModelSim- Intel FPGA Edition license file. However I don't really understand what I need to do ....
Best regards,

Hi
Welcome to Intel forum. Based on my understanding, you will need to have a ModelSim license. Please kindly contact your nearest Altera sales person or distributor to purchase a valid license file. Alternatively, you could also request temporary 60-days evaluation license. Please find the contact for our sales and distributor from link below:

Hello AAbd,
Thank you for your answer ; however I read on Intel's website a license is not needed for ModelSim-Intel FPGA Starter Edition ? I read it on this webpage of Intel's website : https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/programmable/support/support-resources/support-centers/licensing.html
Would there be a way to get a license file for the free ModelSim edition ?
Best regards
