I capitulate to Quartus II and NIOS II V9.1 . . .

Hello,

I use Altera tools in the version 9.0 at work (more or less successfully, but I get my designs to run). At home I have a DE2 Kit which I'm just trying to get to work with the 9.1 web edition tools.

Using these 9.1 tools feels like using complete new tools, as many steps I used in 9.0 are very different to the steps I have to perform in 9.1. (One example is to find and set the bsp properties in the NIOS II IDE (or Nios II 9.1 Software Build Tools for Eclipse as it is called, now)). In the end I found all the settings I needed but I still don't get a design to work.

The next thing I noted was that if I changed some settings in SOPC builder, they were not changed in the new NIOS II IDE even if I regenerated the bsp. I increased the size of my onchip RAM in SOPC, but in the NIOS II Ide it was still the old size and I had to set the new size manually which is very frustrationg and error-prone. Maybe I have done something wrong but I havn't found any documentation about the new workflow steps for the 9.1 version.

In the end I got my design succesfully compiled. Now, the problem is if I want to start my program on the NIOS in my FPGA, I get problems with the system ID. I have no idea how to solve this as I recompiled and rechecked everything in my design countless times and I am not able to find the error (as mentioned above I was able to design and run a system under the 9.0 tools many times . . .)

Is there somebody who can point me to the current versions of the Altera tools documentation so that I at least know how Altera suggest to use these new versions, or, even better, is there a way to download the 9.0 version of the web edition somewhere?

Thanks,

Maik

All previous Quartus versions (subscription and web edition) are downloadable from the Quartus software archive at Altera.com. https://www.altera.com/support/software/download/altera_design/quartus_archive/dnl-quartus_archive.jsp
