Since the current value line fpgas are going to have extended lifetimes up to 2040, is there hope for getting support for 2008 or 2019 vhdl standards? VHDL2008 is supported by pretty much every other vendor eda tool out there (quartus pro, lattice radiant and diamond, Microchip Libero, AMD Vivado and Efinix Efinity) so it is very inconvenient to have to have separate code for cyclone 10lp/max10 fpgas and use common sources for everything else.

We will need some time to look into this for VHDL 2008/2019.
But for the pro version to support Cycle10LP/Max10, it will not be in the plan.

That would be brilliant! Quartus lite used to support some parts of 2008, but it scrapped the support some time ago for whatever reason. The use of generic packages and types in packages makes vhdl much less verbose and substantially easier to use. It would be great to be able to use all synthesizable features of 2008 with quartus lite projects especially since there is no good way to work around the limitations of vhdl1993 in case the original code is written in 2008.

Hey Jari_H,
Hope you are doing well !
Sorry for the delay in responding your message as I was working on your issue at the back to double check on the issue and bring the most truthful support for you
Per checking,
- Quartus Prime Lite Edition
- is supporting Cyclone 10LP & MAX10. (https://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/central-libraries/us/en/documents/quartus-prime-compare-editions-guide.pdf)
- VHDL2008 is supported
- VHDL2019 is not supported
- Quartus Prime Pro Edition
- is not supporting Cyclone 10LP & MAX10. (https://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/central-libraries/us/en/documents/quartus-prime-compare-editions-guide.pdf)
- VHDL2008 is not supported
- VHDL2019 is not supported
Thank you so much for your honest comments & recommendations, we will seriously take them into consideration. Hope these answering your question ^^
Thanks

As per the link that you provided, vhdl2008 is not supported on the Quartus Lite at all and even in the standard version there is limited support for vhdl2008.
According to the documentation the major enhancements for vhdl2008 generics which are used for example in the fixed and floating point ieee packages, are not supported in standard edition
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/docs/programmable/683283/18-1/support-for-vhdl-2008.html
Quartus Pro has support for all vhdl2008 constructs and additionally vhdl2019 interfaces and conditional analysis as per the quartus pro synthesis support documentation
VHDL is the most used language in FPGA designs as per the Wilson research.
https://blogs.sw.siemens.com/verificationhorizons/2022/11/21/part-6-the-2022-wilson-research-group-functional-verification-study/
Is it possible to get the support for at least vhdl2008 features in quartus lite is the devices it can be used for have extended lifetimes?

Hi Jari_H,
I apologize for any confusion or errors in my previous messages. After carefully reviewing the details, I can confirm that VHDL2008 is not supported in Quartus Prime Lite Edition, which is currently in maintenance mode and there is no plan on the support
Furthermore, I would like to rephrase & clarify my sentence earlier. While Quartus Prime Pro Edition does not support Cyclone 10LP and MAX10, it does provide support for VHDL2008 and VHDL2019.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
BR

Will there be free support for the Agilex 3 series on quartus pro once the fpga is released?
