MAX II Programming - ByteBlaster vs. USB Blaster

Hello, 

 

I bought MAX II CPLD Dev Kit about 2 years ago and never used it, but now I am getting back to do a project with the MAX II CPLD. 

 

The kit came with ByteBlaster II Parallel download cable. I understand that now the kits are sold with the USB Blaster.  

 

Should I buy the new USB Blaster? Will it be compatible with the kit I have? 

Should I buy the Altera USB Blaster or should I consider one of the compatible third party devices (any recommendations)?
