Synology Board with 5M80ZE64C5N
PL-USB Blaster RCN Rev C
Software
Win 10
Device selected 5M80ZE64
selectable Boxes ( dark grey ) : Blank check - examine - erase
not selectable Boxes ( light grey ) : Programm - verify - security Bit - ISP Clamp
( exactly same on Brand new chip )
Examine successful 100%
File saved
USM and CFM appear
Verify USM pass
Verify CFM Fail
Message :
209048 verfy failure on devive number 1
209012 Operation failed

to check the behavior i bought a brand new DK-DEV-5M570ZN Development Kit
connection all fine.
Erase performed success
Blank Check success
now examine the erased blank Chip - save the File and now verify of the examined erased/blank chip
........ Failed
So this is not a Hardware or Security Bit Problem -- seem to be a Bug in Quartus

Based on the previous thread you mentioned, I believe you only wanted to examine the board for the cloning purpose, correct?
If you have no issue with examine, may I now the reason you would like to verify it?

--> Yes this is correct

--> This is wrong.
The examined Files are not working - they are empty. Examine is not working.
If i install on a Clone the examined File its not working.
So finally verify confirms correctly that the examine File do not agree with the Source Chip.
Seem that Examine is Faulty by Quartus Software
This Faulty Examine behavior is confirmed with my Boards and a original Development Board.

I'm still checking on the root cause of this. Meanwhile, can you try to use the latest version of Quartus lite? let's see the result;

Could you try with 23.1 standard version this time?

I have no lizenz for the 23.1 standard version
But
The stand alone Programmer of the Standard Version i already tried and the Failure is NOT solved .

Could you try the following step:
1. Uninstall the current usb blaster driver, then try to update the driver to the higher version, such as usb blaster driver for 17.1 or later version.
2. If it is impossible to update the usb blaster driver ,we recommend you to modify the JTAG circuit on your board, and adjust the pull-up resistor of TCK TMS to modify jtag timing.

Hallo,
i never had or used a version older than 17.1
so fur sure its a usb blaster driver for 17.1 or later version .
Prior last Test i deinstalled ALL Software and installed everything from the latest Quartus lite 23.1

Hi TN-Notebooks,
Upon checking, I found out that the lates supported Quartus software for MAX V is 21.1 both for the standard and lite versions. You may check it here: Intel® Quartus® Software Latest Version for Device Support
Please try with the latest supported Quartus version (21.1) and let me know the outcome.

the Versions 18.x up to Version 22.x (21.1 included ) is not useable because it have a other Bug
If you Examine you can not save the File and the Software closes by itself .
see
This Bug is solved in the Version 23
But the Standalone Programmer should support the MAX V also in Version 23.x ??

We have discussed with engineering on this, and several tests has been performed on MAXV devkit to examine the contents.
We don't observed any error and able to download the image from the device successfully.
Is it something related to your design specifically? Moving forward, we need help from you to provide below items:
- Can you share the design so we can replicate the issue on our setup?
- How many devices you observed failing to examine? eg. 2 out of 10
