Quartus 11.1 Text Editor Copy+Paste problem

I found a problem using Quartus text editor: when using copy/paste with Ctrl+Ins/Shift+Ins, Quartus pastes several times instead of just a single paste. It happens when I copy/paste a word that found more than one time in a document. When using Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V everything works fine.

No problems for me.

Have you installed service pack 1?

Yes, service pack installed, it did not help.

If I switch off "Tools\Options\Text Editor\Highlight similar instances of a selected word" the problem disappears.

ahhh i have finally duplicated your problem, and found another related bug

the highlighting feature is pretty new, so i guess we've found it's not well tested

i will file SRs on both issues if you haven't already

I find that if I cut and paste a bunch of times using control C and Control V, then quickly type something. The tool will hang with a severely blocking thread and you need task manager to kill the program.

Also, I get a pesky "file was modified, would you like to reload it? blah blah" that pops up over and over again.

Quartus 11.1 is a big step down, but I need it for cycloneIV GX part.

Turning off the highlight thing sounds like a good idea. I will try that.

i haven't seen either of those issues

over all i don't think 11.1sp1 is that bad, in fact the further we get from 10.0 the happier i am

Old thread but problem persists....is it ever going to be fixed.

I just did a fresh install of 21.1 standard with the same issues.

It used to work in version 15.1 that I have installed on another computer I have but now with a new computer, I installed 21.1 and when using copy/paste with Ctrl+c and Ctrl+v, Quartus pastes all highlighted instances of the word instead of just a single paste.  Due to the fact that the "Tools\Options\Text Editor\Highlight similar instances of a selected word is selected" is checked.  This feature is very useful when visually scanning a file to see the instances.  This feature works seamlessly in applications such as Notepad++, why can't a several thousand dollar application such as Quartus, that we pay several thousand dollars a year to have support for, get this right?

Huh?  Screenshot and steps involved?  And you might want to start a new thread instead of using a 10 year old one.

Here is a step by step of quartus prime standard edition version 21.1.  The first instance, I demonstrate ctrl+c and ctrl+v without highlight similar instances selected, which works properly.  The second instance, I demonstrate ctrl+c and ctrl+v with highlight similar instances selected and it shows the error of pasting every instance of the selected word in the text editor.

I have also viewed the clipboard in Microsoft after the ctrl+c copy was done and the text editor copies all instances of the text to the clipboard.  If I drag and highlight the word, it doesn't select every instance and thereby only copies one instance to the clipboard with ctrl+c.  However, if I double click the word, thereby utilizing the "highlight similar instances" feature (which should only highlight, not actually select the similar instances), then every single similar instance of the word in the text editor is copied to the clipboard when ctrl+c is pressed.  This is not how it should function.
