Hello,
I'm experiencing an issue with Quartus 22.3 Pro while working on an FPGA design for an Altera device. The Analysis & Synthesis stage fails without displaying any specific errors or warnings in the Messages window. Here are the details of my setup:
- Quartus Version: 22.3 Pro
- Target FPGA Device: Aria 10, 10AX115H2F34I2LG
- Scripting/GUI: GUI
- Operating System: Linux
What I Have Tried So Far:
- Checked for missing files – All source files (.v, .sv, .vhd) are present and listed in the project.
- Reviewed warnings/messages – No specific errors or warnings appear, only a failed Analysis & Synthesis.
- Performed a clean build – Deleted db/ and incremental_db/, then recompiled with quartus_sh --clean.
- Checked licensing – Used quartus_sh --t check_license.tcl, and there were no reported issues.
- Verified IP cores – All cores were regenerated using quartus_ipgenerate --recreate_all.
Request for Help:
- What other debugging steps can I try to identify the root cause?
- Are there any known issues with Quartus 22.3 Pro that might cause this behavior?
- Any logs or specific reports I should check?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Which Linux OS are you using?
Are there really no warnings or errors? Make sure you've expanded all red error messages in the Messages window.

Please check whether your operating system is supported for the Quartus version you are using.
Additionally, help to provide a screenshot of what you are seeing:
1. In the Message Window, or
2. In the Synthesis Messages Window (Processing > Compilation Report > Synthesis > Messages)
Alternatively, you can go to your project directory > output_files to check the report files generated at each compilation stage for any error messages.
The synthesis report should be in a file named <project_name>.map.rpt.

In the Message Window – No red error messages.
In the Synthesis Messages Window – Report is not available.
The only place where I see an error message is in the attached file (originaly *.xml), but I can't understand what it means.
Additional Information:
- My design includes a partition (*.qdb file), and the failure occurs when this partition contains a NIOS processor.
- When I comment out the NIOS processor, the entire compilation process completes successfully.
Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

From what I see in your xml file, this seem to be a fatal error.
Could you share your design by archiving the project (Project > Archive Project) so that I can investigate it further.
Have you tried running the design in the latest Quartus version (24.3) to check if the issue has already been fixed?

Unfortunately, I can't share the project as a netlist due to company policy.
I will try to update the tool version.

Additionally, there are a few things that you can troubleshoot:
1. Ensure that you are using the latest version of Quartus as there are a few bug fixed.
2. Try restarting Quartus and your computer. This can help clear any temporary issues that may be causing the error.
3. Check your system resources, including memory, CPU usage, and disk space. Make sure you have enough available resources to run Quartus.
4. Try disabling any antivirus or firewall software temporarily, as they may be interfering with Quartus.
5. Run Quartus as administrator.
6. Disable all the software running behind in the background.
7. Check your OS history update, e.g. to check if the issue happen after some specific Window/Linux update.
Btw, what is the OS you are using?
