Hello everyone,
I am a new user of Quartus and am trying to compile my very first VHDL project. I am using the latest version of the Quartus 23.1. I have designed a very simple 2-input AND gate with block diagram file, .bdf, as shown below.
However, when I try to compile the project, the compiler stops at a certain percent and doesn't proceed. I have already checked the forums mentioning similar problems but non of them could solve my problem. I have a really simple design and it doesn't make sense to me for the compiler to take this long. I suspect there is a problem with my installation, or files.
I appreciate any help/advice.
Best regards,

How long are you sitting and waiting for it to complete? Can you expand Analysis & Synthesis there in the status view? What device are you targeting? Any messages in the messages window?

It actually doesn't matter how long I wait. I once waited for hours and it was still stuck at the same percent in Analysis&Synthsis. I expand the Analysis&Synthesis and I observe no errors, etc. Just in system messages, I see "Warning (262004): Ignoring Signal Tap instance "auto_signaltap_0" with signal set none" Other than that, I see no warning, error. I am targeting Cyclone V. Thanks

Have you tried compiling the design using HDL design files instead of BDF?
Which OS are you using?
Additionally, could you list the debug steps you have tried to resolve the issue?
Kindly share your design by archiving the project (Project > Archive Project) so that I can investigate it further.

Also try disabling Signal Tap in the settings (Assignment menu -> Settings). Maybe the empty Signal Tap is causing the issue.
