Hi All,
I have a question regarding compatibility issue. I have recently installed Quartus II 14.0 in my laptop. When I tried to use colleague’s project file (.qar) to re-generate binary file (.sof), it didn’t seem to function properly. After I programmed .sof file, motor didn’t travel smoothly, but rather bumpily. I found that my colleague was using Quartus II 13.0. And I installed Quartus II 13.0 and re-compile the same project, then the FPGA image worked fine. Here is detail information of Quartus version. Colleague: Quartus II Web Edition 13.0.1 Build 232 SP1 Mine: Quartus II 14.0.0 Build 200 SJ Full Version I assume that the latest version (14.0) should support old version (13.0), but is there any compatibility issue with it? I appreciate your help. Regards, Byung Hwa KimLink Copied

Is there any Altera IP in the project? If so, was it re-generated prior to running it through Q14?
I'm not convinced this is the issue. However, without quite a bit more to go on we're going to be guessing somewhat... Cheers, Alex- Mark as New

There are a few things that could cause this....
1. Is the design fully synchronous? did it meet timing? If it is not fully synchronous, then the move to a new version and recompile is going to affect the timing of the design. 2. Any IP used? was it upgraded for a new version?
