Quartus II Pro BluePrint can not launch

So, here's the condition I got.

I was using QuartusII Pro 16.1 to build up my design, which including EMIF controller of DDR4 and using 10AX066 as core FPGA. So far it ran well, I can do most of the functions that tool supports including BluePrint.

However, after a 30 days trial, I'm using the purchased license but the problem occurs. When I trying to launch BluePrint and select "YES" in the pop-up dialog, the Quartus II is closed and meanwhile, the other start image appeared but after that, the BluePrint simply hanging and having no response. In the task manager, I can see a "quartus_pdp" appeared in task list but no further actions.

In the forum, I saw similar issues below:

1. https://www.alteraforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=52337&highlight=blueprint

2. https://www.alteraforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50917&highlight=blueprint

However, both of the discussion threads point to license issue, but I don't know what specific steps I should do. The purchased license I'm using is a floating one and it's the first time I'm using BluePrint to arrange pin placement.

Any idea? thanks!!!

Hi Kentan,

Thanks for your advice. I tried Q17.1 pro and the other problem occurs.

When I launch Q17.1, I did enable the floating license and did the compilation, there has no error/warning in process. However when I try to lunch BluePrint, the tool's GUI appears this time but pops out a license warning message box, saying my license is not supporting the tool and ask me to buy one.

I've checked the Intel website of license part informatio, for my understanding the floating license supports all Quartus II Prim series tools and no other information about license of BluePrint.

Did I miss any part or there's other license options we have?

many thanks!

The Pro edition does require additional licensing beyond Standard edition. It worked OK during your 30 day trial, but you need a Pro license line to use Blueprint.

Hi sstrell,

thanks for the reply, I can get license type information from link below:

https://www.altera.com/support/support-resources/download/licensing/overview.html

But it didn't point out the license difference between QuartusII Prime Pro/Standard.

Do you know where I can get the specific table/document about it? Thanks in advance.

You can start here:

https://www.altera.com/products/design-software/fpga-design/quartus-prime/download.html

Look at the comparison table. Strangely, the page you link to does not mention Pro edition licensing.
