To run RTL simulation, trying to launch QuestaSim in Aletra Quartus prime lite, but the problem is for the tool name QuestaSim, i have given executable location of vsim.exe but it doesn't start compilation even though location is correct. (installed Questa Intel Fpga Starter Edition which is compatible with Quartus prime lite with free license)

I have few question, are you
1) Using the native link simulation? https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/docs/programmable/683080/23-1/using-nativelink-simulation.html
2) what OS that you are running
3) what Quartus version that you were using?
4) what device that you were using now?

Hi,
you probably missed the fact that Questa Intel FPGA Starter Edition needs a free license that must be explicitely acquired from Intel licensing portal and installed on your PC. To see if Questa is correctly licensed and runs on your PC, you can try to start Questa GUI interactively.

You're referring to the Questa Intel FPGA Edition simulator tool. You will need to use the Siemens version of the QuestaSim simulator for the EDA Simulation Library Compiler to work.
The Questa Intel FPGA Edition (including starter edition) comes with precompiled libraries, so you do not need to use the EDA Simulation Library Compiler. Unless you plan to use third party simulator tools, e.g. Active-HDL, Riviera-PRO, Siemen QuestaSim.
If you plan to simulate using Questa Intel FPGA Edition, use the NativeLink simulation flow. FYI, the NativeLink feature automatically compile your design, Altera IP, simulation model libraries, and testbench.
Refer to the quick start guide below for instructions on how to simulate the example design provided in the User Guide, using the Quartus Standard/Lite.
