With Quartus 16.1 I often run into the situation that Quartus marks the "Analysis & Synthesis" step in the Task window as "needs to run"/dirty (with a question mark) even though I have not changed the source files but only pin assignments or the qsf file. This makes pinning very time consuming. My current workaround is to remove most core components from my design to speed up compilation when doing the pinout. That's a bit cumbersome.
Can I tell Quartus to run the fitter only? If not, I guess I could try running it from the command line. Can I see the arguments Quartus calls quartus_fit with to copy them?Link Copied

I just realized that, when in the situation described above, the fitter can be started through Processing > Start > Start Fitter without triggering Synthesis again.
