SignalTap II trigger does not work consistently

I am using Quartus Prime version 16. I want to use a very simple trigger.

Whatever trigger I select, it does not work consistently.

SignalTap sometimes gets stuck on "acquiring pre-trigger data" and sometimes on "Waiting for trigger".

I have set the trigger on an external button on the board and even if i press it, it keeps waiting for trigger.

Sometimes it shows results after pressing stop analysis button but not always.

It usually works fine the first time after making some changes and doing compilation and again gets stuck and keeps ignoring trigger the next time you try to trigger it.

Compiling every time when you want to trigger is getting really time consuming.

Please advice some tricks to make it work.

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like possibly the clock issue? Pressing "stop analysis" should basically always work.

I couldn't yet figure out what the issue was, but creating another instance in SignalTap with same signals and selecting all lines as trigger with 'Basic OR' worked for me.
