Hi there. I recently installed "12.0sp2_263_quartus_free_windows.exe" on a new PC running Win7 64 bits Professional. Installation worked well but I have the impression that the jtagserver.exe service is not well installed. The USB-Blaster is well recognized and I installed the driver which is in the installation package ("C:\altera\12.0sp2\quartus\drivers\usb-blaster"). When I start the programmer from Quartus and I try to add a new hardware I get the message: "Attempted to access JTAG -- internal error code 82 occurred". I tried to start manually the "jtagserver.exe" but I get the error message: "...missing tbbmalloc_proxy.dll.....". I uninstalled and installed the software several times again. The jtagserver does not appear as a installed service. What’s wrong ? I tried also the installation on my Home-PC (Windows 7 64 bits Home Premium) and I have the same problem.
Thanks for any responses, MatthiasLink Copied

Hello dedanaan,
I checked already the JTAG Server service in windows services and the server is not present. I tried to install "12.0sp2_263_programmer_windows.exe" but the installer does not start properly. When I call in a command-window "C:\altera\12.0sp2\quartus\bin64 jtagserver.exe -install I always get the error message with the missing "tbbmalloc_proxy.dll". Matthias- Mark as New

Welcome to the wonderful worl of Altera software tools.
The only way I got 12.0sp2 with Windows 7 to work was by installing the 12.0sp2 programmer. I have had problems with Altera's tools crashing after download. Sometimes your internal network can screw up the download causing the application to crash. I simply download the stuff I need at home and bring it into work now.- Mark as New

Hi rob18767,
Yes this worked out. I downloaded the "12.0sp2_263_programmer_windows.exe" at home because at work the file was some how corrupted. Than I intalled the programmer and now the jtagserver loads up and it works fine. Thank you very much, Matthias :)
