Upgrade Quartus 17.0 to Quartus 18.0 issue

Hi everyone,

I have a problem with Quartus 18.0 standard version.

If I compile my project on Quartus 17.0 it needs about 75 minutes, on the other hand after the upgrade to 18.0 standard version it needs 225 minutes, it's a huge difference.

The settings of the quartus 17.0 and 18.0 are the same, both FPGA codes works. However, I don't understand why.

Some advices?

Just tried to delete the database nothing's changed.

How many processor cores is Quartus using in 17.0 and 18.0 respectively?

Hi mhavu,

thank you for the answer.

Both 17.0 and 18.0 are using all the cores. In our case 6 cores.

Is there a certain part of the compilation process that takes more time on 18.0, or is every part proportionally slower?

Hi sstrell,

the device is an Arria V and we are using 70% of the device's resources.

Hi,

Can you share the flow.rpt file from both Quartus V 18 and 17 projects & design used.

FYI.

The Intel Quartus Prime Standard Edition software release version 18.0 contains no new features or enhancements. Old software issues are fixed.
