a10gx board installation failed

I follow to install, although at "Installing kernel driver module... Your log is not readable like this, so it is hard to tell what is happening. Have you followed Altera's instructions in the OpenCL Getting Started Guide? Also what version of Windows are you using? Others have reproted that correct driver installation on Windows 8/8.1/10 requires disabling driver signature enforcement.

Yes, I follow Altera's instructions in the OpenCL Getting Started Guide.

My system is windows 10, and I have disabling driver signature enforcement.

Here is my Warning

C:\Windows\system32>aocl diagnose

Warning:

No devices attached for package:

C:\intelFPGA_pro\17.1\hld\board\a10_ref

C:\Windows\system32>clinfo

Warning: Cannot find any Intel(R) FPGA Board libraries. No Intel(R) FPGA devices will be loaded. Please contact your board vender or see section "Linking Your Host Application to the Khronos ICD Loader Library" of the Programming Guide to set up FCD manually.

Here is log when I run Hello_World

C:\Users\exm_opencl_hello_world_x64_windows\hello_world>aoc -march=emulator -v -board=a10gx device/hello_world.cl -o bin/hello_world.aocx

aoc: Environment checks are completed successfully.

aoc: If necessary for the compile, your BAK files will be cached here: C:\Users\AppData\Local\aocl

You are now compiling the full flow!!

aoc: Selected target board a10gx

aoc: Running OpenCL parser....

aoc: OpenCL parser completed successfully.

aoc: Compiling for Emulation ....

Error: Linker FAILED.

Refer to hello_world/hello_world.log for details.

You first have to solve the problem with the driver not being compiled correctly. Unless that is done, aocl diagnose will not work. Kernel compilation is a whole different story and if you are getting compilation failure, that needs to be diagnosed in a different fashion.

Have you made sure your FPGA board is installed correctly? Have you programmed the FPGA using a pre-compiled OpenCL binary? The driver compilation log seems to state that it is unable to find your board.

I haven't plug in FPGA board, I just want to use <aocl -march=emulator> to make sure my kernel code is correct and make some optimization. So I try to solve kernel compilation first.

I follow getting start guide, and it works on my Linux CentOS 7, but not work on windows 10.

I now solve the problem.

on windows 10, visual studio 2017 community

we need to set VS LIB variable to x64.

we can first echo %LIB% on Developer command Prompt for VS 2017, it may show our default is point to x86 system.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2017\Community\VC\Tools\MSVC\14.11.25503\ATLMFC\lib\x86;C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2017\Community\VC\Tools\MSVC\14.11.25503\lib\x86;C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\NETFXSDK\4.6.1\lib\um\x86;C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\lib\10.0.16299.0\ucrt\x86;C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\lib\10.0.16299.0\um\x86

then, we enter C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2017\Community\VC\Auxiliary\Build and run vcvarsall.bat x64. It will point LIB variable to x64.

If you haven't connected the board yet, you should not expect the driver installtion or "aocl diagnose" to work correctly.
