I created the project for the d flip flop in the Elektor article FPGAs for Beginners by Theo Mulder (the March April 2024 issue) which uses Quartus Lite.

Why do the symbols that I see on the screen look scrunched up, the text/labels look like they are partially obscured, not as clear as what is in the manual?

I also did the example in the Arrow manual for the CYC1000 board, it doesn't look good either, certainly not as clear what is in the manual.

This is most likely caused by the text size scaling setting in your machine.
