instantiate hidden Qsys components

The following property within a Qsys component _hw.tcl file has the effect of hiding a component from the Qsys component library pane:

set_module_property INTERNAL true

Is there a way for me to find and instantiate a model with this attribute set? If so how? (or do I need to edit the component and modify the property value?)
