We are currently using Intel Xeon D-1527, D-1528, D-1537, and D-1559 processors.
We are planning to develop a PCIe card using the Lewisburg Refresh C629A chipset to utilize QAT (QuickAssist Technology).
We would like to ask if there could be any issues with card recognition or QAT functionality when this C629A-based PCIe card is connected as an endpoint to the CPUs mentioned above.
For reference, we are currently using the QAT8960 (based on the Lewisburg C628 chipset) without any issues — the card is recognized properly, and QAT works as expected.
Our main concern is whether there could be any compatibility issues between the older Xeon D processors we are using and the newer Lewisburg Refresh chipset.

Hi jungsoolim,
I just got confirmation that the 629A device was never validated as an accelerator plug in.
It was qualified to be used as a QAT+PCH device only.
It is completely compatible with C629 in all other aspects.
I hope this answers your question.
Regards,
Ronny G

Hi jungsoolim,
Thank for reaching out to Intel Communities.
I am double-checking on this question and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
On the other hand, can you confirm that you have Intel Xeon D-1527, D-1528, D-1537, and D-1559 processors running with QAT8960?
Regards,
Ronny G

Hi Ronny,
Thank you for your response.
Yes, we are using the QAT8960 PCIe card (C628) together with the Intel Xeon D-1527, D-1528, D-1537, and D-1559 processors.
Please let us know if any additional information is needed.
Best regards,
Jungsoo Lim

Hi Ronny,
Thank you for the clarification regarding the 629A device.
If the C629A has not been validated as an accelerator plug-in, it would be difficult for us to use it in our case.
We are therefore considering using the C627A instead.
Could you please confirm if the C627A has been validated as an accelerator plug-in?
Our plan is to develop a PCIe card based on the C627A to replace the QAT8960 PCIe card.
Thank you again for your support, and I look forward to your response.
Best regards,
Jungsoolim

Hi Jungsoolim.
Unfortunately, none of the updated “A” or “R” SKUs for ICX are supported as a standalone plug in accelerator.

Hi jungsoolim,
I will be closing the internal ticket I opened for this issue, as I believe it has been resolved.
The community post will remain accessible, but I will no longer be monitoring it for updates.
If you have any further concerns or questions, please feel free to start a new community post.
