Why do you need 10 year old outdated software?

I can explain.

I have downloaded a preloader image of GSRD v16.0 from https://www.rocketboards.org/foswiki/Documentation/GSRD160ReleaseNotesArrowSoCKitEdition 3 months ago when I started working on Cyclone V HPS(Terasic TSOM board) bare metal development with Quartus 18.1, SoC EDS 18.1 and Arm DS 2024.

I was using this prebuilt preloader image to run my bare metal image from SDRAM (booted from onboard eMMC chip) without any issues.

Now I have a specific use-case to run bare metal image from on-chip ram.
Unfortunately preloader can't load and run next image from on-chip ram.
I have also tried generating(from bsp-editor) and building preloader using v18.1 Embedded Command Shell but the issue still persists.
I am aware that Preloader itself runs from on-chip ram and loads next image to SDRAM area.
My bare metal image .scat file and mkimage load address are correct i.e. 0xFFFF0040.

I am now interested in source code and configuration of my working Preloader image from GSRD v16.0 to understand the actual loading code. I think it should be possible to customize preloader such that it loads next image to free on-chip memory.
Could you please confirm ?
My bare metal image is not so big. Its 15 KB at the moment including header.
That's why I am interested in 10 year old version of SoC EDS.

It would be great if you can help me to fix issue with 18.1 Preloader. It neither loads next image from SDRAM nor from OCRAM.

Best Regards,
Naresh

Hi Naresh,

We cannot provide the old SoC EDS. The old versions were removed due to CVEs and are not allowed to be distributed.  You would save yourself a lot of frustration if you start with current software and tools and port the example to the newer tools.  We don't support such old software anymore.

Best,

Sue

Hi,

SoC EDS is a discontinued product, which is no longer supported by Altera.

https://www.rocketboards.org/foswiki/Documentation/SoCEDS

On our website, you can get the SoCEDS v20.1 but you will get the no or limited support on SoCEDS. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/software-kit/661082/intel-soc-fpga-embedded-development-suite-soc-eds-standard-edition-software-version-20-1-for-windows.html
