Hi All,
I am trying to profile the energy consumed by some benchmark. I followed the instruction here to install Intel SoC watch on my linux machine:
https://software.intel.com/sites/default/files/managed/5a/36/socwatch_android_linux_users_guide.pdf
and
https://software.intel.com/en-us/driver_setup_for_energy_analysis
then tried to collect energy data using socwatch command as in:
https://software.intel.com/en-us/get-started-with-vtune-for-systems-lin
but then, I get the following error:
ERROR: no collector found to perform immediate IOCTL operations!
Error: could NOT open file/sys/kernel/debug/tracing/available_events!
FATAL: ERROR retrieving platform name
FATAL: ERROR running collection
ERROR: ERROR working controller!
ERROR: ERROR running controller!
when I execute socwatch as root, I get the same error above except the first two lines:
FATAL: ERROR retrieving platform name
FATAL: ERROR running collection
ERROR: ERROR working controller!
ERROR: ERROR running controller!
Any Help please ?

Please check first if the driver is built and installed successfully before you use the socwatch. The instructions for driver setup is here: https://software.intel.com/en-us/driver_setup_for_energy_analysis
I would also recommend to upgrade the product to the latest Intel system studio 2017 update 1 release. If you still got the problem, please let me know your exact CPU configs (e.g. output from lscpu). Some of the CPU type may still only be supported under NDA.
