Ubuntu 22 Failed to start proxychains.service: Unit proxychains.service not found

I installed the proxychains plugin to open an application with a proxy on Ubuntu 22. I made the necessary proxy settings in the conf file, but I keep getting a timeout error when I run the application with the proxy. When I try to start the proxychains service, I get the error "Failed to start proxychains.service: Unit proxychains.service not found". I couldn't solve the problem, I reinstalled the operating system, rebooted the server, but I couldn't solve the problem. Interestingly, I get this error even when I start the service directly without editing the proxychains conf file and running the program.

Here are some additional details:

  • Proxychains version: 4.14
  • Operating system: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
  • Application: Firefox

I have tried the following:

  • Reinstalling proxychains
  • Rebooting the server
  • Editing the proxychains conf file
  • Starting the proxychains service with sudo service proxychains start

I am still getting the same error.

Can you please help me solve this problem?

Thank you.
