Does Dell Optiplex 7080 micro compatible with Intel Unite 3?

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am using a Dell Optiplex 7080 micro and would like to try the Intel Unite Small Business deployment. However, I found from the Dell support page that Optiplex 7080 micro only supports Intel Unite 4.

https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/zh-tw/000177869/intel-unite-downloads?lwp=rt

And Intel Unite 4 only has the Enterprise Deployment option. I try to download Intel Unite version 3.3.195 from the Intel site to try to install. But it fails to run and reported that the System Check failed. I search this forum already and found that Optiplex 7070 has a similar issue. The user seems to solve the problem at last by installing the version 3.3.190. However, I found there is no more 3.3.190 available for download. Would you mind give a hints on solving this problem? Thank you for your help.

Hello kflow,

Thank you for contacting Intel Customer Support.

We understand that you are not able to install Intel(R) Unite on your Dell Optiplex 7080 micro.

You can try to install Intel Unite® version 3.3.190 from here:

https://downloadmirror.intel.com/28903/eng/intel%20unite%203.3%20pv%20build%203.3.190.26.exe

Please note that we can not guarantee this version will install or work on your OptiPlex 7080 Micro Desktop and we recommend installing the version recommended by the system manufacturer.

Additionally, you can contact Dell support for more assistance.

Dear Sergio,

Thank you for your reply. I have tried with the installation file you provided but got the same error as the version 3.3.195 . I have  contacted Dell already but they can't provide a feasible solution. Actually, from Dell's webpage, it shows that the Optiplex 7080 only supports Intel Unite version 4. Does this mean that I can't install Intel Unite 3 (Small Business) on newer Intel CPUs and I can only install Intel Unite 4 (Enterprise)? Is the Small Business deployment actually free for Intel CPU with vPro? Thank you for your help.

Hello kflow,

Even though a processor may support Intel® vPro, original equipment manufactures (OEMs) usually validate specific platforms for different versions of Intel® Unite.

Please allow us to do further research on this matter. Please share the following information:

  • A screenshot of the "system check failed" error you are receiving.

  • Msinfo 32 report from your Dell Optiplex 7080 micro
  1. Press Windows Key + R.
  2. Type MSInfo32 and press Enter. ...
  3. In the System Information window, click File.
  4. In the drop-down menu, click Save… ...
  5. Select where you want to save the file. ...
  6. Name the file MSInfo32 by typing into the File name field.
  7. Click Save.

Hello kflow,

I hope you are doing great, thank you for your patience and time, while we investigate, we would like to know

Is there a reason why you want to use 3.X we would like to know if you could try with 4.X. We actively recommend 4.X considering that 3.X is on the path of being EOL (End of Life).

We will wait for your response,

Best regards,

Dear Paul,

Thank you for your reply. For our case, we just want to try the Intel Unite on one or two of our meeting rooms. Therefore, we just want to try the Small Business Deployment. For 4.x version, it doesn't support the Small Business Deployment and that's why I can only go for 3.x . I also found that there is the Intel Unite Cloud service and it can serve as the server. Is this the direction Intel Unite is going to and there will will be no more Small Business Deployment support? Thank you for your help.

Hello kflow,

Thank you for your patience and time, we are working on your inquiry. Based on your previous inquiry Small Business is to be EOL (End of life) and will not be implemented anymore.

We encourage you to confirm with DELL if the system hub is VPro compatible and we encourage you as well to test the unite 4. x installation.

There are Optiplex 7080 models without this feature in the configuration and that could be the issue.

I will send you an internal communication requesting some more information that can't possibly be shared on the public thread.

We will wait to hear back from you with the updates.

Dear Paul,

From Dell's page, our model (Optiplex 7080 micro) should support certain version of Intel Unite 4 but not Intel Unite 3.

https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-hk/000177869/intel-unite-downloads

Therefore, I just want to ask here if our model has the chance to support Intel Unite 3.

I understand that Intel Unite 3 is going to fade out so I am also testing the Intel Unite 4 with the trial Intel Unite cloud service. The performance seems fine but it seems less straightforward to use and configure. It also needs to pay monthly so I am not sure if my supervisor would like to use it.

Please just close this request if the troubleshoot is hard. Thank you very much for helping to troubleshoot with the Intel Unite 3 and our PC model.

They sometimes even refuse to anwser questions related to Windows as it is not their products. Anyway, thank you very much for your help and please close this thread. Thank you agan for your help.
