How does one force the Intel-Unite-Client on Ubuntu to accept the trusted selfsigned Certificate?

I was working strictly by the manual, and created the selfsigned Certificate, entered it to the IIS, then downloaded it from the Clientside browser and added it via cp to the right folder and update-ca-certificates.

But I cant connect to the Server. I got the the company token via url, it opens the client, but a warning shows and in the terminal i see that a ssl error occures, it seems linke the client does not know that Ubuntu trusts the selfsigned cert now.

Server Version 4.1.381.43

Hub Version 4.1.381.33

Client Version 4.0.13 Ubuntu (Latest)

Maybe it is also a Version Problem, but there is no 4.1 Client version that I found online.

Thanks for ideas.

Could you please let us know your Ubuntu* version?

  • Its Ubutnu 18.04

I tried to Connect from a Windows client and it worked after following the steps in the manual to accept the certificate.

So the Server-Hub side seems all fine.

But for our usecase it needs to also work on Linux Machines.

Thanks for your help.

Hello SGrun1,

Thank you for your response.

Could you please let us know if you are following the steps contained in section 6.1.1.4 Import Certificates on Linux* Clients of the Intel Unite® Deployment Guide?

Hey,

Yes I did.

I also got the right output from update-ca-certificate: "... 1 added ..."

I also settet up a fresh ubunut installation and had the same problems.

Thanks for your time.

Addidtional content:

There was one Problem with it that I allready solvend, maybe give this information to your manual team :):

In Section 6.1.1.1.1 and 6.1.1.1.2 you describe to download a .CER certificate, which is encoded and therefore not the right Cert format to give to the procedure described in 6.1.1.4:

-sudo cp CERT-NAME.crt /usr/locale/share/ca-certificates/

-sudo update-ca-certificate

For this procedure you need a cert in "---begin of certificate--- foobar.. ---end of cerificate---" form.

So apart from my problem you might want to change this in the manual.

Hello Wanner G.,

I know you wrote that you will update me asap but

since it has been two weeks, I wanted to ask if there is any new state to my problem?

Where you able to reproduce it?

Thanks for your efforts so far.
