TXT Record and SRV Record

Hi there,

We are trying to configure Intel Unite’s TXT Record for the auto provisioning of the clients. However, our Network team suggested that the debug log that we saw below from the client’s app is searching for SRV record, which have not documented on the user manual. Is there something that we are not aware of?

We would like to create a ticket so that we can CC our Network team on the conversations, thank you.

Hello LShum2,

Thank you for your response.

First, we would like to know if you created the DNS TXT Record based on section 4.5 DNS TXT Record of the Intel Unite® Solution version 4.0 Deployment Guide (Pag 32).

If the issue persists, please attach the following log files.

  • "intel unite launcher.exe" /debug >log_output.txt

Is there an alternative method?

Create a folder on c:\ drive so the log can be kept in storage.

C:\UniteLogs\ and add the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Intel\Unite\ LogFile (String)

Specify the file path as well as the name for your log files on the string value:

C:\UniteLogs\logs.txt

Files name are IntelUniteServerLog.txt, IntelUniteTransactionLog.txt, and UniteServerLog.txt

  • The Client and Hub logs are created by default and are called Unite.sql.

This file is located at C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Temp

This file is a SQLite database, and it can be opened with any SQL Client but the DB Browser for SQLite is recommended.

Find all data generated by the application on the table, Logging.

  • Generate a system report with the Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU) and attach it to this thread.

  1. Intel® SSU Download link
  2. Open the application and click on "Scan" to see the system and device information. By default, Intel® SSU will take you to the "Summary View".
  3. Click on the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View".
  4. To save your scan, click on "Next", then "Save".

Hi Wanner,

Our network department created the DNS TXT record as per section 4.5 on the deployment manual. They mentioned that they have created it in the top level domain.

Can we send you the logs by email but not posting it on the forum because the forum opens to public?

Thank you.

Hello LShum2,

We would like to know if you are still having the issue reported.

It is worth mentioning that Intel Unite solution 3.x uses a DNS SRV record for Autodiscover, while Intel Unite solution 4.0 uses a DNS TXT record. This allows both to run within an organization.

Now, are you referring to the Auto Pairing mentioned on the Intel Unite® Deployment Guide?
